I present Golden Cut featuring Rachel Maio and Shelley Sörensen, the later who I met at the PEOPLE festival in 2016. PEOPLE is a collaboration music festival that took place at the Michelberger hotel and Funkhaus studios, founded by Bon Iver and members of the National. Both incredible musicians in their own right, it was a dream come true to spend days in my Berlin studio with them experimenting. I used a DL4 looper, 8 track cassette recorder, Elektron drum machine and iPad to manipulate our improvised sessions into live productions. In the months following, I edited them down, added a couple things and my friend Awir Leon stopped by one day to lay down the vocals for the track that would become “The Return”. This music to me is magic. It came from nowhere and in the moment. We dreamt it together and then it was just there. For me its beauty is endless.
